Congratulations to Gabby Douglas, the first African American girl to compete and win on the uneven bars in the women's individual all-around final Thursday
at the 2012 London Olympic Games. As an African American women, I am proud of her.

She has taken home a win for the United States and she is only 16. Such a way to go. As a nation we all are beyond proud, I know her family members are filled with joy as Douglas made history. It must be an amazing feeling knowing that you are the first too make a record in that category. She is an excellent gymnast with a great work ethic. She has also received the recognition from President Barack Obama, Oprah and many others. I like too see people like her age to things with there life. It is such an accomplishment. You do not have to be a Olympic gold medal, but doing something possible with your life and excelling in it is beyond what words can explain.
