Headin' to Court: Jay-Z Sued over Roc-a-Fella Logo
My oh my what a tangled web we weave...
Jay-Z and his Roc-a-Fella camp are headed to court over their precious Roc-a-Fella symbol that we all know and love. The symbol which depicts the letter "R" in front of an black record and a bottle of bubbly are the center of this suit filed by Bronx clothing designer, Dwayne Walker. He is suing the Roc for $7 million in unpaid royalties for the logo which he claims he designed.
In a copyright infringement suit filed in Manhattan Federal Court on Thursday, Dwayne Walker says he created the design.
“The logo has become universally recognized as an iconic symbol of Jay-Z, one of the most successful recording artists in the history of popular music,” the suit says.
It says Walker came up with the logo in 1995 when Roc-A-Fella was just starting out. The label is now a subsidiary of Universal Music Group.
The suit says Walker saw what label co-founder Damon Dash had in mind for the logo and said he could do better.
Okay, so y'all know I hate speaking out of term and everything but umm, dude, why'd you let 10+ years go by without trying to collect your dollars? But don't worry folks, I got a feeling big brother Hov gone have this mess settled outta court at an undisclosed amount. It's nothing.
Next case please!

Locked Up!: Young Buck Sentenced to 3-Years
Yoo hooooo! Who remembers former Cash Money/UTP/G-Unit signee, Young Buck? Famous for beefing with artists and then working with them later on? (ie. the HIGHLY publicized G-Unit beef with former groupmate Game in which both camps took shots at one another and then Buck later appeared in a Game video). Well today, I'm not here to tell you Buck's taking shots at anyone but he will however be dropping a new address soon -- most likely cell block C.
Yesterday, Buck was sentenced to serve three years in prison on weapons charges. Back in August of 2010, the IRS did a raid on Buck's home in which they found a .40 caliber Glock 22 and ammunition. Although the raid was carried out on the grounds that followed reports that the rapper had an outstanding $300,000 tax debt, Buck is convicted felon and he is prohibited from having ANY kind of firearms.
Tsk, tsk, tsk, when will you folks with records learn?

Erika Alexander Co-Writes a Graphic Comic with a Black Heroine
Remember Erika Alexander who played Maxine Shaw, attorney at law from the 90's TV show Living Single? Well refamiliarize yourself because she's got big plans on the horizion.
Erika Alexander, along with her hubby Tony Lyga and her brother, Robert, they have developed a graphic comic with a black heroine called "Concrete Park." The main characters are women of color: Luca, a gang leader, and Lena, her lesbian lover. The novels will feature a cast of different backgrounds who are all struggling to survive in an increasingly depraved world. The backdrop for Concrete Park, is set in the a dangerous near-future where gangs threaten to destroy humanity.
I don't know how you guys feel about this but I think it sounds great. I hope it doesn't disappoint because I will definitely be snatching up an issue when it releases.

Pointing Fingers: Motorcycle Escort Said He'd Shoot the First Lady
According to GlobalGrind.com, the assassination attempt on First Lady Michelle Obama has been stopped.
According to the Washington Post, the officer works as a motorcycle escort and is alleged to have said he would shoot the First Lady. He is said to have shown his fellow officers a photo of a gun that he would use.
The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department didn't have many details on the situation, but spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump said in a statement:
"We received an allegation that inappropriate comments were made. We are currently investigating the nature of those comments."The Department has also contacted the Secret Service about the potential threat.
Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said the agency is "aware of the incident" and is "taking the appropriate follow up steps" with an investigation.
Okay, so umm, I'm not an expert or anything and I hate to involve myself in politics BUT shouldn't that escort be charged with treason, attempted murder and sent to prison for LIFE!

Controversy: Target Won't Sell Frank Ocean's 'Channel Orange'

Target representatives say the decision not to sell the album is a reaction to iTunes' one-week exclusive which would mean all stores would lose out on first week sales. I hate to be judgemental but something doesn't seem right.
According to the HuffingtonPost.com, the brand (Target) has a complicated history with the LGBT community. Target first faced a strong backlash after donating a whopping $150,000 to MN Forward, a group that was backing Tom Emmer's gubernatorial bid in Minnesota. Emmer was known for being especially conservative and not supporting equal rights for LGBT citizens. At the time, Target Corp.'s CEO Gregg Steinhafel said the company was merely championing a candidate who would be an advocate for its business interests. He apologized at a later date.
Well readers, what do you think? The Babbling Bee's are dying to hear your take on this.
Locked Up: Rapper Beanie Sigel to do a bid
Who doesn't remember former Roc-a-Fella rapper and 'actor', Beanie Sigel? Back in the day, Bean man was part of the Dame Dash Music Group/Roc-a-Fella powerhouse with other artists such as Memphis Bleek, Freeway and Jay-Z. However, I am not blogging today to brief you on his resume although he does have a new road he's embarking on... And it's called jail.
Today, a federal judge sentenced Bean man to two years behind bars for failing to file tax returns for the years 2003 through 2005. What is up with celebrities not paying they damn taxes?! Also, IRS investigators found that Sigel did not file tax returns from 1999 through 2002, except for a $10,000 tax payment in 2001. Federal prosecutors said that Sigel earned more than $2.2 million in taxable income between 1999 and 2005 and owed Uncle Sam $728,536 for those six years. (However he was not charged with tax offenses for the years 1999 through 2002 because the statute of limitations had expired.)
As Lady Luck would have it, Beanie is scheduled to drop another album next month but now that may be on hold. I suggest he create a documentary a la Lil' Kim that way he can build himself a cushion so that ass won't end back up in the slammer. Just my opinion though; what do I know, I'm just a writer =)
